Summary: Students will write lyrics about DNA and DNA replication to their own made up rap song. Topics include: double helix, nucleotides, template strands, nitrogen bases, pyrimidines, purines, complimentary base pairing, DNA replication, DNA helicase enzyme, DNA polymerase enzymes, Okazaki fragments, lagging and leading strands, and 5 prime - 3 prime.

Standards: California - Biology 5a. Students know the general structures and functions of DNA, RNA, and protein. 5b. Students know how to apply base-pairing rules to explain precise copying of DNA during semiconservative replication and transcription of information from DNA into mRNA.
