PLC Data Analysis
One of the main aspects of using a PLC common assessment is data analysis. Lesson Plans Inc's common assessments have many data analysis tools at a teacher's disposal. The computer does the grading and analyizing of student data so the teacher can focus his or her time on implimenting changes in their teaching. Teacher will have at their disposal every student score, overall class scores, how an individual student scores on a assessment or one concept in that assessment, how the class scored on one assessment or a concept with in that assessment. Basically, this lets the teacher immediately know areas of weakness of their teaching and areas of strengthes on a macro level and each individual student. I takes seconds for a teacher to know exactly where a student is struggling. Teachers can see how all their students did on each question and see how an individual student did on each question. All of this PLC data analysis is a very simple to use and yet provides critical information that enpowers teacher to improve their teaching.
Summative vs. Formative Assessments
A summative assessment is typically used at the end of the grading period. Summative assessments should only be taken once and are used to assess what a student knows. Summative assessments are not used to find out what the student still needs to learn. This used to be the way teachers use assessments. A formative assessment is much more like a check for understanding. This can be a white board activity, small quiz, or chapter test. However, what is important is the student may retake the quiz to prove mastery. Teachers use formative assessments as a tool to see what the student knows and what they still need to learn. Lesson Plans Inc's PLC formative assessments provide teachers with immediate grades, which make it extremely easily and fast for teachers to allow make-ups. Lesson Plans Inc's PLC formative assessments also give teachers complete data analysis and give the student this analysis so they can be proactive in their studying. |

PLC Teacher Collaboration
When teachers meet with their PLT (Professional Learning Team), they can share how each of their classes performed on an individual question or an entire assessment. This takes a lot of time for teachers to prepare before they can have their PLC meeting and still only gives a teacher a very question specific or general idea of what their students learned. Lesson Plans Inc can generate this infomation within seconds and can give the teacher the inbetween, which concept does their students not know. If a teacher was going to reteach something, they will reteach a concept not an individual question.
The Lesson Plans Inc's common assessments can be used as a summative assessment. In fact you can chose to only provide this option to your students. The Lesson Plans Inc's common assessments can also be used as a formative assessment. This should not replace check for understanding strategies that teacher use in class, but it can suppliment those check for understanding strategies. A teacher can choose to allow students to retake any assessment to earn a higher school. This way the PLC common assessments become more of a formative assessment where the teacher gets the analyzed data of where a student is weak and provide specific intervention for that student. After the intervention, the student can retake the assessment. This process can repeat until the student has mastered the concept or idea.
